Ace pump model numbers explained: FMC vs FMCSC, HYD-206, and what the suffixes mean

Ace model numbers look like alphabet soup, but every chunk means something you need when you order parts: which shaft seal is in it, what size the ports are, what the body is made of, how it’s driven, how much oil the hydraulic motor wants, and what impeller it has. Read it left to right. Or type it into the Pump Finder and it will pull up that exact pump’s parts, kits and troubleshooting.

1. The prefix: pump family and shaft seal

Prefix What it means Shaft seal / pump kit
FMC Standard centrifugal pump Carbon/ceramic Viton seal BAC-7V; kits RK-FMC or RK-FMC-150
FMCSC Same pump with a silicon carbide shaft seal (longer life in abrasive mixes) BAC-7SC; kits RK-FMCSC or RK-FMCSC-150
FMCWS Wet seal pump (seal runs in a barrier-fluid reservoir) Wet seal kit, e.g. RK-FMCWS-PRO5 for the 155 Pro5 models
FMCB Buna seal version Seal differs from Ace’s standard sheet; call to confirm
PTOC PTO belt-drive pump Pump seal per the size; belt, pulley and idler parts listed separately
GE / GESC Gas engine pump (engine named in the model, e.g. -HONDA, -KOHLER) Engine service is the engine dealer’s; pump parts are Ace’s
RP Roller pump Universal kit, e.g. RK-RP-800 for 8-roller models

The seal is the single most common reason people look up an Ace model, and the prefix is where it hides. An FMC and an FMCSC with the same numbers look identical from the outside; the shaft seals and repair kits are different.

2. The size number

The number after the prefix is the pump frame and port size. The common ones: 75 is the small 1" x 3/4" poly pump, 150 is 1-1/2" x 1-1/4", and 200 is 2" x 1-1/2". No number at all (FMC-HYD-206) is the 1-1/4" x 1" pump. The 650, 750, 755 and 855 frames are the high-flow pumps with flanged 220/300 ports. The size picks the impeller, volute and pump repair kit, so it matters as much as the prefix.

3. Letters right after the size: ports and body

  • F — flanged ports (FMC-150F), which means a flanged volute instead of NPT threads.
  • FS or SS right after the size (FMC-150FS, FMC-200SS) — 316 stainless steel body.
  • SP — self-priming volute (FMC-150SP). On the small 75 and 85 pumps the SP models are also poly.
  • BSP — British (BSPP) threaded ports instead of NPT.

With none of those, the body is cast iron (e-coated on newer pumps), except the poly 75/85 pumps.

4. The drive

HYD is a hydraulic motor drive, MAG an electric clutch (MAG-D, MAG-DX), and CW means clockwise rotation. LM means “less motor”: the pump is set up for a hydraulic motor but ships without one, so there are no motor parts to list.

5. The hydraulic motor number

On a HYD pump the next number is the hydraulic motor, and it tells you how much oil the motor is built for. That’s the number to match to your tractor (see matching a hydraulic pump to your tractor).

Motor Oil flow (per Ace sheets) Motor repair kit
204 About 4 GPM RK-BAC-75-HYD-L
206 About 7 GPM RK-BAC-75-HYD-L
210 About 10 GPM RK-BAC-75-HYD-L
304 About 9–11 GPM depending on the pump RK-BAC-75-HYD-300-L
306 About 16.5 GPM RK-BAC-75-HYD-300-L
307 16–19 GPM RK-BAC-75-HYD-300-L
310 16–25 GPM Call to confirm the 310 kit
M16 / M22 / M25 M-series pressure-plated gear motors, roughly 14.5–20 GPM RK-BAC-75-M

Letters on the motor number: N = motor only, no external fittings (206N); CD = case drain (needs a third line back to the reservoir); PWM = integrated PWM control valve for closed-center systems; R = reverse rotation; LS = flow limiting valve; 8SAE / 10SAE / 12SAE = the SAE size of the motor’s oil ports.

6. The suffixes at the end

  • CI — cast iron impeller
  • PI — polypropylene impeller
  • SI — 316 stainless steel impeller
  • SS at the end — stainless construction and hardware. Not the same as a stainless body; that’s FS or SS right after the size.
  • EC — e-coated finish

No impeller suffix means the standard Valox (engineering plastic) impeller.

Putting it together

FMCSC-150FS-HYD-206-CI is a silicon carbide seal pump (kit RK-FMCSC-150), 1-1/2" x 1-1/4" with flanged ports, a 316 stainless body, a 7 GPM 200-series hydraulic motor (motor kit RK-BAC-75-HYD-L), and a cast iron impeller. FMC-200-HYD-304 is a standard-seal 2" x 1-1/2" cast iron pump with a 300-series motor around 11 GPM and the standard impeller.
