Banjo pump model numbers explained: reading 200PO, 300PIH13, M220PO and the wet seal pumps

A Banjo model number is short, and once you know the pattern it tells you nearly everything you need to order a seal or impeller: the port size, whether it’s a manifold pump, the body material, the drive, and the seal. The quickest way to get the parts list is to type the model into the Pump Finder; here’s how to read it yourself.

1. First digit: port size

1 = 1-1/2", 2 = 2", 3 = 3", 4 = 4". A 200-anything is a 2" pump; a 333 or 300 is 3". The next two digits are the family within that size (200, 201, 205, 222, 230, 234, 300, 301, 305, 333 and so on), which decides the impeller and seal.

2. M in front: manifold pump

An M prefix (M220PO, M300PO, M332PIH13W, M350PHYW) is a manifold-flange pump that bolts straight to Banjo manifold fittings instead of threaded ports.

3. The letters after the number

Letters Meaning Example
P Pump (the letter every model has)
O Pump only, no engine or motor 200PO
I Cast iron body. No I and no SS means poly. 200POI
SS Stainless steel body 200PO-SS
B Bearing pedestal (belt or shaft drive) 200PB
H + number Honda engine and its horsepower 300PIH13
number + PRO, or P-3 Briggs & Stratton engine and its horsepower 200P6PRO
HY Hydraulic motor drive 200PHY
HA Hydraulic adapter, sold without the motor 200PIHA
E + number Electric motor and horsepower; a trailing 1 is single phase 234PIE51
CF + shaft C-face flange for a motor, with the shaft size 200POICF5/8
W Wet seal pump 201POIW
V / BN FKM (Viton) or Buna rubber parts instead of the standard rubber 200PO-V

So 300PIH13 is a 3" cast iron pump on a 13 HP Honda, 234PPE51V is a 2" poly pump on a 5 HP single-phase electric motor with FKM rubber, and M220PO is a 2" full-port manifold poly pump end.

4. Which mechanical seal your Banjo takes

A drip from behind the pump body is the shaft seal. Banjo seals follow the pump family:

Pumps Standard seal Options
2" and 1-1/2" poly: 200PO, 200PH, 200PB, 200PHY, 234PPE, 300PO, M220PO, M300PO 12713 (EPDM) 12713V FKM for V models; 12713SD severe duty for abrasive mixes
2" cast iron and 2" stainless: 200POI, 200PBI, 200PIH, 200PIHY, 200PO-SS 17035 17035SD severe duty
3" cast iron 300 series: 300POI, 300PBI, 300PIH13, 300PIHY 18025 18025SD severe duty
3" and 4" cast iron 333 and 444 16713 444PIH24 uses 18435
3" stainless: 300PO-SS, 300PB-SS, 234POSS 18125SS
Poly wet seal: 200PH6W, 300POW, 300PH13W, M300PH6W 15035E Check the wet seal reservoir too

A few models break the pattern (for example the 234PIE5 cast iron electric pumps take the 12713), which is why it’s worth looking yours up rather than going by the table. The Pump Finder lists the exact seal, impeller, o-rings and gaskets for each model.

5. Wet seal pumps

A W pump runs its seal in a small reservoir of fluid, so the seal faces stay lubricated and cooled even if the pump briefly runs dry. If one starts leaking, check the reservoir level and condition along with the seal; low or contaminated fluid is a sign the seal is passing. The reservoir, seal assembly and wet seal impeller are listed on each W pump in the finder.

No tag? In the Pump Finder, pick Banjo, then the body material (poly, cast iron or stainless) and how it’s driven, and the list narrows to a handful of pumps. Or send a photo to sales@spraycenter.com.

Spray Center Electronics stocks pump parts and repair kits for Ace, Banjo, Hypro/SHURflo and Annovi Reverberi (AR) pumps in Spokane, WA. Part numbers here come from the manufacturers’ parts sheets; when your pump has been modified or the tag is gone, send a photo to sales@spraycenter.com or call (509) 838-2209 and we’ll match it before you order.
