There's a reason trailed sprayers never went away. You already own the horsepower. You already know the cab. And when the sprayer is a separate machine from the tractor, you're not parking six figures of equipment for ten months out of the year.
What has changed is the technology. A FAST pull-type sprayer today runs the same boom control, nozzle control and camera-based spot spray systems you'd find on a self-propelled machine costing two or three times as much. Here's the lineup, and the features that actually matter when you're covering ground on our hills.
The lineup, from small acres to custom application
- Big Wheel — 500 or 750 gallons on a 45' or 60' boom. Low-profile tank for rear visibility and a short-coupled trailer that minimizes crop damage in turns. Hydraulic or PTO-driven Ace pump.
- 9600N / 9600TF — 1,050 or 1,350 gallons, booms from 60' to 100'. Hitch pin to axle is just 152", which is why this machine tracks the way it does behind a mid-size tractor.
- 9500TF — 1,800 or 2,400 gallons with 60'–100' tri-fold booms. The 80' folds to 40' or 60', the 90' folds to 60', the 100' folds to 40' or 70'. You can match your planter width without buying a second sprayer.
- 9500T — 1,800 or 2,400 gallons on a 120' or 132' truss boom with DOMEX steel in the high-stress areas. Hitch pin to axle is 175", roughly four feet shorter than comparable competitors.
- S-Series — 1,800, 2,600 or 3,200 gallons with 120', 132' or 135' truss booms. The 3,200 covers a square quarter at 20 GPA without stopping to fill, and the nozzles and harnessing run inside the boom structure where they're protected.
- Big Acre Series — 5,000 gallons, 120' or 146' boom, two Ace 750 Oasis pumps moving 225 GPM on 36" CAMSO tracks at 14 psi fully loaded. Built for custom applicators who get paid by the acre.
The tank design that makes the rest of it work
FAST's patented low-profile "Stealth" tank is the foundation of every one of these machines. Low center of gravity, better rear visibility, and a large sloped trough sump that cleans out well and keeps the pump primed on long slopes. If you've ever lost prime halfway up a hill with a load on, you know what that's worth.
That tank shape is also what allows the short hitch pin-to-axle lengths and the wide range of dual-wheel spacing. Every FAST trailer sprayer has an adjustable axle receiver that moves 9" forward for tighter tracking or 9" back for a more stable ride.
Boom technology
- AutoFold — hold one switch on the fold box and the machine completes the entire fold or unfold sequence. On a 132' boom at the end of a long day, that isn't a gimmick.
- Hydraulic AutoYaw boom cushioning — sensors detect fore-and-aft boom movement from sudden starts, stops and turns, and the system cushions it hydraulically instead of letting the boom absorb the shock. Standard on the 120' and 132' machines and on Big Acre. It's why you can push speed without paying for it in boom repairs.
- Boom Ride — a hydraulically accumulated, center-pivot center section isolates the boom from the trailer and dampens rough ground, so boom height stays consistent across terrain.
- Raven XRT AutoBoom height control — an ISO system running 3 or 5 radar sensors with ground and crop canopy modes, plus tilt and roll sensors reading both trailer and center-section attitude. Spray height adjusts from 20" to 72".
Plumbing and rate control
FAST leaves the plumbing exposed and logical instead of buried behind panels — easy to trace, easy to service. Stainless steel wet booms in 6- or 10-section configurations, with flush-out valves at the end of every wet boom section and on each strainer. That turns cleanout from an afternoon into a chore.
Boom recirculation lets you charge the booms with chemical before you start and eliminates dead spots in the plumbing. Dual pressure gauges and transducers monitor pump pressure and boom line pressure separately and feed the rate controller. Standard pumps are Ace 150-206F on the smaller booms and Ace 205-304F from 80' up, all with a hydraulic flow limiter for overspeed protection. Wet seal and PWM pump options are available.
Every FAST sprayer can be configured to run product control and section control through an ISO-ready tractor, so you're not adding another display to the cab unless you want one.
Nozzle control and camera spot spray
Capstan PWM pulsing nozzles are available across the lineup — a solenoid on each nozzle body holding consistent pressure and droplet size as speed changes, with turn compensation and individual nozzle section control.
Precision Planting SymphonyNozzle and SymphonyVision are now available factory-installed on nearly the entire FAST lineup, from 60' to 135' booms and 1,050 to 5,000 gallon tanks. SymphonyNozzle separates rate from pressure for true droplet control nozzle by nozzle, with turn compensation and swath control through a Gen 3 20|20 display. SymphonyVision adds boom-mounted cameras that identify weeds and distinguish them from the crop, so you can spot spray or vary rate by weed pressure instead of blanket-treating the field — with no per-acre licensing fees. FAST engineers the camera mounts, boom structure and hydraulic cushioning around the system rather than bolting it on afterward.
Flotation, tires and tracks
Tire options include 380/90R46, 480/80R50 and 580/85R42 depending on tank size, with dual and high-flotation single options and dual spacing from 62" to 132".
CAMSO TTS tracks come in 15" or 18" widths on a cast undercarriage with oil bath bearings. The 15" track cuts ground pressure 78% compared to 380/90R46 singles and delivers 2.7 times the flotation of a comparable self-propelled machine. On wet spring ground, that's the difference between spraying and waiting.
A steerable hitch for our terrain
An optional ISO-controlled steerable hitch keeps the sprayer in your tractor tracks through headland turns and across hillsides. On rolling ground, sidehill drift is what tears up the crop on the pass you already made.
Built to still be worth something
DOMEX steel in the stress areas keeps weight down without giving up strength. DOM tubing and greasable pins in the corrosive spots, Magni-coated hardware rated to 1,000 hours of salt spray, and an automated five-stage wash and powder coat line. Chemical is hard on equipment, and this is a machine built to hold its resale.
